Worldwide “Deca” is one of the most widespread anabolic steroids, that has gained its popularity simply because of possessing many very favorable properties. Structurally nandrolone is very similar to testosterone, though it lacks a carbon atom at the 19th position (hence its other name 19 -nortestosterone). The resulting structure is a steroid that exhibits much weaker androgenic properties than testosterone. An interesting fact is that nandrolone does not break down into a more potent metabolite in androgen target tissues, unlike testosterone, for which this is a significant problem. Though nandrolone undergoes reduction via the same (5-alpha reductase) enzyme that produces DHT from testosterone, the result in this case is dihydronandrolone.
